the balloon returneth we spent about 5 hours in the hospital today, Chris's first achalasia followup in about a year. the past week has been really bad for him, not much eating and even less sleeping. i convinced him to call the dr who scheduled him for an endoscopy and, if necessary, another balloon.

the dilation did turn out to be necessary, his esophagus having completely closed back up again. it was a little rough and they had to put him out completely rather than the normal "awake but numb" routine. so he's a bit sick and a bit sore but hopefully on the mend.
